Environmental issues can trigger onset of many diseaes, such as sarcoidosis.?

I have been diagnosed with sarcoidosis 6 years ago. I changed work locations and after a year in the new facility and being exposed to asbestos, I fell ill with pulmonary diseases (Sarcoidosis). My question to you is, can exposure to the asbestos trigger an onset of this disease?
