Should I get my own inspector to inspect condo before buying?

I've heard that HOA (home owner association) may cover certain parts of the inspection (ie. termites, asbestos, radon, etc), but is it a good idea to let them do it as oppose to getting your own independent inspection? Or when they say HOA will cover, does it mean they will pay for it, and you choose the inspector. And if so, would HOA do this even before you buy the condo?
