I have had a cough and been nauseated for a year?

Ever since I moved into my apartment a year ago I have a cough that will not go away and I feel nauseated most of the time. When I don't eat, I am dry heaving and when I do have food in my system I am trying to keep it down. I haven't had the money to go to the doctors myself and I don't have health insurance. I know I will need to go to the doctors, but I was just curious what it could be? When we renewed our lease at the beginning of the month, they had a paper in there saying this apartment may contain asbestos. Could my symptoms possibly be from that?
