Can diesel exhaust/ smoke cause cancer?

I've been a firefighter for quite a few years now and continuously exposed to exhaust fumes from fire apparatus and other seemingly harmful products that can be inhaled. I take all the obvious precautions that I can but I am just curious if breathing in too much of this smoke and exhaust can lead to cancer in my future. I've read articles on firefighters and cancer before but it seems that most of their cancer is caused by asbestos.
